Finally Metric return to the UK

Hard to get a good photo when the lighting was particularly mental and pink heavy...

Should have gone to the KOKO gig in hindsight!

Isn't the lighting at all the venues more or less the same? (Assuming the set up is more or less the same.)

Not exactly, there's also things like structures around the main stage and relative distance and intensity of lighting projected onto the stage to keep in mind.

The KOKO gig (going a bit nerdy here) seemed to have more consistent lighting, not a pink-dominant as the Empire one. It seemed to be more orange, which isn't nearly as bad for the camera.

I'll concede that the strobe and blue lighting remains pretty much the same across the gigs...

In any case, time for a new camera. The Lumix is not nearly as good as the older Fujifilm which I had before...

Catatonic, perhaps you're right. Note that I'm basing my thoughts on the photos I've seen tagged on flickr between the KOKO and Empire gigs (mentioned earlier that I wasn't at the KOKO gig).

Whatever their arrangements are with the lighting, it was enough of an issue for the autofocus on my camera to go completely bananas. Heck, I even resorted to burst mode to get something! Many of the half-decent pics i then had to convert to b&w simply because either the noise was too much to deal with, or the band looked heavily sunburnt!

Oh, and could someone tell Emily to stop jumping around? She's messing my shots up!

(nah, i can live with that, she's a great presence on stage and its that which makes going to a metric gig fun)

I've got a few shots of the whole stage and the crowd from the very top of the venue and I've got some videos I took, if anyone wants to see them.

Just caught Metric on Jools Holland, I thought Gimme Sympathy was a good choice but Emily can't hit the top notes on Sick Muse so why play it? Clipping always looks poor and especially as this was a huge spotlight show for them.

Haven't seen it yet, but it sounds like they should have finished the show and the series with SL. That would have been nice...
