This TG discussion gives me a good time to bring up something I love about Fantasies. More so than any other Metric material, I feel like I can turn this album up really, really loud and have it sound even better. It's the whole grandiose, marble bathtub in a golden club feel. I don't make sense.
OWU and LIO and GUABA were all such pop albums, and this one seems, to me at least, to be more about music and mood and making me cry.
Twilight Galaxy is fantastic when my speakers are about to break. The area around the 2:30 mark makes me feel like exploding. Actually, I could say that about most of this album. It makes me feel like I need to explode.
If I listen to all of my Metric songs (107 items on iTunes...) at high volume, the older material gets a little shallow--Fantasies is deep, deep, deep. I'm not saying that I dislike the older stuff by any means, but I'm finding Fantasies to be more different and mature with every listen. I think of a story when listening to Combat Baby, but I feel (lolz) a story when listening to something like Blindness.
