not really, regardless of what format or bitrate you put a previously compressed file into means you are putting it through yet another encoding process, which would cause slight degrading even if its a higher bitrate. its just like generations with vhs/cassette dubbing.

but really this doesnt matter much when you are dealing with videos made from digital cameras or phones and youtube, all of which will be crappy quality regardless. im just a huge nerd and its hard for me to keep my mouth shut and not throw FYIs in

it's late to ask and i pretty much know the answer, but are there any audio files of old The Hooks? when i try to match up the sparse recognizable lyrics with the current melody, it seems like the old version's composition was a lot more unique that the pop formula the current version fills. not that it isn't an amazing song.
