_Some_ 80s musci is shit. I remember someone dragging me to the downstairs club for 80's night. Sounded like a good idea as I liked New Order, The Smiths, The Cure, Skinny Puppy, Sisters of Mercy etc...

When I got there we found the DJ's idea of 80's music was Katrina and Waves, Hewy Louis, Foreiner, Lover Boy....sheeeeeeeit!

Zaphod's also had an 80's night that was much more to my liking.

Let's see "Well, I'm hot blooded, check it and see I got a fever of a hundred and three " need I say more?

While we're on the subject of lame lyrics, by listen #20 I found "Help, I'm Alive!" starting to get on my nerves. "Hard to be soft, tough to be tender" - something my nine year old finds clever. Oh wait, did I just expose myself as being old?

No, I'm on board. Mostly because there is this intense lead-up that you think will explode into some synth-driven craziness and it just turns into...like...something reminiscent of country rock. Very watery. Catchy as hell, but easy to become annoyed by. I think they were smart to put off giving any definitive information for so long, because by the time they finally did, fans had felt so defeated that they'd accept pretty much anything, regardless of the quality. I mean, listen to any song off OWU or LIO and then listen to Help, I'm Alive. It's not different or deviant (it captures everything there is to both like and dislike about Metric), but it's just not as good.

At least to me, you know, the most negative person in the world.

Stop making a martyr of yourself! I think you should just accept that sometimes you are just an awkward cow

What the hell are you talking about!? I'm sorry, but you don't speak for Metric fans and your analysis of them is off. I love the tune and I don't find it annoying at all. Learn to speak for yourself.

I loved Help, I'm Alive, too. Rather, do love. Most times I can't bring myself to listen to any song more than once within the same day, but that song looped easily and left me completely relaxed. Within the first week of having downloaded the track, I'd played it upwards of 250 times, and since it still hasn't annoyed me, I should think that counts for something.

Likewise! My count for it on iTunes is 160 and I've listened to it plenty more times on burned CDs and my iPod... I really love it, and especially the video of her talking about on the site. I don't find it annoying one bit.

I will admit the song doesn't have the same instant gratification as MH or DD. Though it is better than many songs on the other albums. The production and tight-knit band is a new high level water mark for the group.

It should also be noted that what we hear is the radio edit. I wonder if some pieces are missing/extended or not. The abrupt ending may be hiding something.

160?

250?

Please tell me these are inflated figures. I'm probably around 50-60
