I had to look it up to know what you were talking about... I assume you mean this logo

They only used that logo for one album though it would seem, and it's the kind of font that you'd find stencilled on a crate - which corresponds with the album being called cargo. So I'd put any similarities of typeface down to coincidence, I don't think they were consciously copying anything there.

The Who didn't start off in the 80s, they were around since the 60s so I don't think you can count them - They broke up in the early 80s anyway

The 80's had as much musical diversity as any other decade. Just because the pop and style was so overblown and cheesy, doesn't mean there was no quality music in the 80's. Metric is quite clearly influenced by post-punk and new wave, genres that came to popularity mostly in the 80's.

It's the cheesiness and overblowness that I object to.

Postby the-deftone » Mon Nov 10, 2008 6:46 pm

Iv been checking for updates here every once a while and finaly! This song is ammmaaaaaaazzzzzzzing!

Metric just keep getting better, well to me anyway. This song is everything i love about them. That bit "if we are still alone, my regrets are few" does something to be.

I love the video version too, hope we get a version with just emily and piano.

Hurry up new album!

I think its because i expected the beat to drop out after the first line, like they did in the video on the site.
But then again, its just a radio edit.
I hope it grows on me.

What were you thinking!!
its so great.

I've been playing Help, I'm Alive over and over and over again. I have a mildly addictive personality so I can start listening to something non-stop for weeks.

Yeah, that's true. The who were terrible after '78. I thought for some reason that "Who are you" came out in the 80's :?

New Order
The Jesus and Mary Chain
The Cure
Gang of Four
Sonic Youth
Talking Heads

You're brainwashed if you think the 80s was all bad hair, clothes and new wave.

Seems to be getting 500+ "views" a day since it was uploaded, over 14,000. That's pretty good considering there's been little advertising and the time since their last relase of new material.
